Jonathan Katz Lecture

Eleven Seconds out of 113 Years: An(ant)tomy of a Conflict
A Lecture with Dr. Jonathan Katz
February 16, 2011, 4 pm
Tyler School of Art, Temple University
12th and Norris Streets, Lower Level, B004

A crowd of over 200 came out for a lecture with Dr. Jonathan Katz in which he spoke of the exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, "Hide/Seek: Difference and Desire in American Portraiture" which he co-curated with David Ward, and the controversy over the David Wojnarowicz film that was removed from the exhibition. Dr. Katz was very passionate about his work and the themes of the exhibition as well as the resulting controversy.

A number of events coincided with the controversy at Tyler School of Art. A bus trip was planned to Washington D.C. to view the exhibition "Hide/Seek: Difference and Desire in American Portraiture" on February 5. Co-curator David Ward led attendees on a guided tour of the exhibition.

"A Fire in My Belly" was screened at the Temple Gallery on February 14 and 15, from 10am to 5pm.
